Pen & Ink Animals
This skill building project teaches students about value, proportion, and mark making. They practice value scales, practice scaling an image with a grid, and learn the basics of form and value. Ultimately, they choose a reference and apply these skills to fully render an animal in pen & ink.
Their amazing work showcases how they develop craft and technique and demonstrates their grit and perseverance, as evidenced by their careful marks and keen observation. Throughout this unit they engaged in conversations about various including Chuck Close, Olivia Kemp, and Shaun Tan. They participated in critiques and practiced giving peer feedback.
